Disable auto categorization?
Hi All - Any suggestions on dealing with auto-categorization being inconsistent/overly-assuming?
I'm finding the built-in auto-categorize is placing transaction in too broad generalizations (or is otherwise plain wrong).
Primary reason I love mint so much is the ability to track my spending down to specific categories. Unfortunately, this proves rather time consuming where merchants such as Amazon or eBay are placed under 'Shopping' category. While may be technically accurate, this defeats the purpose of having sub-categories in my mind. Might as well have a category that says 'money spent'.
Another example, I recently went out for a fancy dinner. Auto-categorization placed the $200 transaction under FastFood, I'm guessing because the Restaurant name had "Grill" in it?!
For what it's worth, I've tried playing with rules, but this seems only suited for bills and similar transactions which appear exactly the same each time. Anyone familiar with Amazon/eBay/Paypal (internet shopping general) can attest that these transaction RARELY are from the same seller.
Appreciate any suggestions you all may have to make mint work better for me rather than against!
