How do I prevent Mint from automatically changing the name and category of my transactions?
Mint's automatic renaming and categorizing process is really messing up my transactions. Specifically, Mint keeps changing the name of my transactions based on the the previous name change that I applied - even if I did not make a rule to do so. What is the point of having the ability to make rules (or not) if Mint just creates rules and applies them on its own? I keep ending up with incorrectly named and/or categorized transactions because it is difficult to spot the mistakes among the stream of transactions. I would prefer greater control over this process. I would like Mint to apply the same name to same transaction every time (or better yet - just leave the name as it appears on my statement) unless I make a rule. I would also like Mint to classify every transaction as "Uncategorized" unless I make a rule. I see that other people are having the same issue. The responses all seem to fall into the "sorry about your luck" category. I even saw the phrase "subject to the whims or Mint's naming algorithm"! I (and others) don't want to be "subject to the whims" of anything Mint does. There should no "whims"! Clearly this is an issue with Mint's programming policy. Since the algorithm doesn't work, at least let me opt out of it.
