How should I handle the situation where a savings/investment account cannot be linked into Mint?
I have an account that is NOT possible to link to Mint. This account is money that I transfer every month to a relative to invest in his accounting business. It guarantees me a better return on my money than a regular savings account. In return, my relative transfers me money back from that account whenever I need it.
For example, this month, I bought a car with money from that account. He transferred the money and I categorized the transfer into a custom budget called "New Car". The problem with this is that it throws off my trends. I spent $7,000 on the car, but because I transferred that money into the new car budget, trends doesn't show the total spent in that category. It shows whatever was budgeted in "new car" + transfer in to budget - actual spent. In this case it shows that I haven't spent anything on the new car.
budgeted(300) + transfer into budget(6700) - actual spent (7000) = 0.
So, this has completely thrown off my trends for about a year. Whenever I make bigger purchases, the money usually comes from this account. Can you think of any ways that I can work around this?
