Enhancement Suggestion - Dealing with co-mingled expenses for personal and work budgets
I am a long-time user of Mint, and have been totally happy with it for years. I am, however, running into an issue that I am hoping I can make a product enhancement request for. My scenario is this: I work for a company that I travel quite a bit for and all of those travel expenses are reimbursed after expending them on my personal credit card. I want to track those expenses in their own budget category, but I am unable to create a budget for multiple categories, or create a custom parent category to put those transactions into. If I could do one of those two scenarios I could have my work expenses budgeted for each month along with my personal expenses, but as it stands today I have no way to separate them from a budget perspective and therefore the budget capability is really pretty useless since I blow my personal budget pretty much every month due to my work expenses. I am happy to help design an approach if you need end-user feedback on this. Here are a few possible approaches:
- Allowing a custom parent category where I can create my own sub categories in it and create a budget against it
- Create a new parent category titled work expenses or something along those lines
- Create a way to have a budget created from multiple categories combined (which could have other uses, such as a personal spending/entertainment/food budget)
- Allow the budget to be split by personal vs work/other expenses (effectively managing two budgets in one Mint account)
Any of the four scenarios above would work great for my needs. Where can I submit these ideas for enhancement evaluation?
